Boys Soccer @ North Torrance CIF Playoffs D4 Qtr-Finals

HUENEME: Congratulations boys soccer for defeating Hueneme High in the 2nd round of playoffs. Norwalk's Louis Cortez scored in the 50th minute and Hueneme scored in the 74th minute sending the game into overtime. After 20 minutes of overtime, the score remained the same sending it into a penalty kick shootout. Norwalk won 5-4 from the boots of Alex Maciel, Cesar Soto, Luis Reyes, Eduardo Razo and Louis Cortez. Also, goalkeeper Ezequiel Zuniga made the ultimate stop to give Norwalk the win. Thursday, February 25th, Norwalk travels to North Torrance for a Qtr-Final match. Click the title for the school address and driving directions.

Boys Soccer @ Hueneme (Oxnard) CIF Playoffs Round 2

NORWALK - After beating Morningside (Inglewood) 2-0 in the first round of CIF Playoffs, the mighty Lancers (#1 in Suburban League and #4 in CIF-SS D4) will travel to Hueneme High School in Oxnard. Boys Basketball Finishes 2nd in Suburban League

Congratulations boys basketball! In contention for the league championship, the boys basketball team went 8-4 in league beating all except La Mirada. Until the final league game, the boys were on a 5 game winning streak. As the 2nd seeded team in the Suburban league, the Lancers will play home Wednesday, February 17th at 7pm against Rowland High (San Antonio At-Lg).

2008-2009 graduate, Stephanie Jimenez, pitches and plays first base for Cal State Dominguez Hills. As a true freshman, Jimenez opened the season for the Toro's against Humboldt State to earn her first collegiate win as a pitcher. Read more.

FOOTBALL reaches the CIF Semi-Finals Two Years in a Row

Congratulations Jessie Ceniceros and the entire football staff for another exciting season. In his first two seasons, Coach Ceniceros and his players have set numerous individual and team records and reached the CIF Semi-Finals twice. Best of all, game attendance is way up and school spirit is on fire. Norwalk is loving their football. Way to go Norwalk Football!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MILLENNIUM PROJECT

For the 2nd year in a row, the students in the Millennium Project won the "BATTLE OF THE SCHOOLS" competition. Norwalk High School had the highest diversion rate of all the schools located in the County Supervisorial District #4 during the 2008/2009 school year. NHS recycled 1,720 Pounds of Plastic Bottles, 2,700 Pounds of Aluminum Cans and 36 tons of Paper. Click on the title to view the video.

NORWALK INCREASES THEIR API SCORE BY 31 POINTS

Congratulations students, teachers and parents! With all your hard work and preparation, our school has improved their Academic Performance Index (API) score from 610 to 641. Our target growth was 10 points and we surpassed it by 21 points. Great job!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS!

In September 2009, just over 100 Norwalk graduates will continue their education in a 4-year college or university. That number represents 25% of our senior class. Approximately 65% will attend local junior colleges and 10% will enter the military or the work force. Here's a few of the schools students are attending: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Davis and UC Riverside. Click on the title for a complete list of schools.
